Training and Events

Throughout the year, the College Media Association hosts specialized training events, informal confabs, and signature national conventions designed to educate, connect, and inspire the college media community. Whether you're an adviser, educator,  or an administrator, CMA events offer valuable opportunities to grow your skills and network with peers.

On many campuses, a media adviser is a lonely person. Oftentimes, they are the only one doing that job and have no mentors or colleagues to help when problems arise

The College Media Association is here to support you.

Whether you're an adviser, instructor or administrator, CMA offers invaluable opportunities to hone your skills and network with colleagues.

Throughout the year, we offer trainings and events designed to educate, connect, and inspire, including:

  • The online version of the New Adviser Training and two multi-session, advanced summer courses are synchronous training programs that deliver practical insights at affordable prices.

  • Small in scale but big on value, CMA Confabs are informal, interactive and FREE webinars where advisers share best practices, ask questions, and collaborate with peers. These sessions, typically one hour in length, are perfect for troubleshooting challenges, sharing resources and building community.

  • The Spring National College Media Convention, in New York City, and the Fall National College Media Convention, co-hosted with the Associated Collegiate Press in cities around the nation, bring together the largest, most diverse gathering of college media professionals and students in the nation. These conventions feature in-depth workshops, keynote speakers, networking opportunities, student media contests and award presentations—including the Apple Awards in spring and the Pinnacle Awards in fall, as well as the in-person version of the New Adviser Training.
